About Liuwa Plain National Park
Liuwa Plain National Park is one of Africa's most remote and pristine wilderness areas — home to the second-largest wildebeest migration on the continent (after the Serengeti). Located in western Zambia, this vast treeless grassland hosts over 40,000 blue wildebeest that migrate annually across the floodplains, accompanied by zebra, tsessebe, and other antelope. Managed by African Parks in partnership with the BaRotse people, Liuwa is also the domain of Lady Liuwa, the famous last surviving lioness who lived alone on the plains for years before companions were introduced.
