About Murchison Falls National Park
Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda's largest and most dramatic national park, centered on the point where the entire Nile River is forced through a 7-meter-wide gap before plunging 43 meters into the "Devil's Cauldron" below. This creates what Sir Winston Churchill called "the most impressive thing that has happened to the Nile on its journey to the sea." The park's 3,840 km² of rolling savanna and riverine woodland support Uganda's largest population of Nile crocodiles, hippos, and giraffes, while recently reintroduced rhinos at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary nearby complete Uganda's Big Five roster.
