About Kibale Forest National Park
Kibale Forest National Park is the "Primate Capital of the World" — home to 13 primate species including the highest concentration of chimpanzees in East Africa (approximately 1,500 individuals). This 795 km² tropical rainforest is the premier destination for chimpanzee tracking in Africa, with habituated communities that allow remarkable close encounters. Beyond chimps, the forest is home to the red colobus monkey, L'Hoest's monkey, grey-cheeked mangabey, and the tiny nocturnal potto. The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary on the park's edge adds excellent birdwatching and community tourism.
