About Nyerere National Park
Nyerere National Park (formerly the northern section of the Selous Game Reserve) is Africa's largest protected wildlife area, covering over 30,000 km² of pristine, wild African bush — three times the size of the Serengeti. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the last remaining true wilderness areas on Earth, where boat safaris on the Rufiji River, walking safaris, and fly-camping offer a raw, immersive safari experience. The park's river system supports one of the highest hippo and crocodile populations in Africa.
