About Madikwe Game Reserve
Madikwe Game Reserve is one of South Africa's hidden gems — a malaria-free Big Five sanctuary on the Botswana border that remains refreshingly uncrowded. Created in 1991 through Operation Phoenix, one of the largest game translocation projects in history, the reserve has grown into a thriving 75,000-hectare wilderness with over 12,000 animals. Madikwe is particularly celebrated for its exceptional wild dog sighting rates and its family-friendly lodges that welcome children of all ages.
