About Kruger National Park
Kruger National Park is South Africa's flagship conservation area and one of Africa's largest game reserves, covering nearly 2 million hectares of unrivalled biodiversity. Established in 1898 by President Paul Kruger, the park stretches 360 km from north to south along the Mozambique border. It is home to the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros — alongside 147 mammal species, 517 bird species, and 336 tree species. Kruger offers one of the most accessible safari experiences in Africa, with over 2,500 km of paved and gravel roads perfect for self-drive safaris. The park's diverse landscapes range from dense mopane woodland in the north to mixed bushwillow grasslands in the south, creating varied habitats that support an extraordinary density of wildlife.
