About Gishwati-Mukura National Park
Gishwati-Mukura National Park is Rwanda's newest and smallest national park, created in 2015 to protect two fragile montane forest fragments that were devastated during the 1994 genocide and its aftermath. This park represents Rwanda's commitment to restoration ecology β chimpanzees have been habituated, golden monkeys reintroduced, and the forest is regenerating rapidly. A visit here supports one of Africa's most inspiring conservation recovery stories while offering intimate primate encounters without the crowds of Rwanda's more famous parks.
