About NamibRand Nature Reserve
NamibRand Nature Reserve is the largest private nature reserve in Southern Africa and Africa's first International Dark Sky Reserve — a designation recognizing its exceptional stargazing conditions. This 2,150 km² wilderness on the edge of the Namib Desert offers a landscape of dramatic red dunes, vast gravel plains, and ancient granite mountains. The reserve's strict light-pollution controls mean the Milky Way is visible in breathtaking clarity, while desert-adapted wildlife thrives in the pristine ecosystem. NamibRand pioneered the concept of sustainable desert tourism, with only a handful of exclusive lodges operating within the vast reserve, each adhering to strict environmental guidelines.
