About Etosha National Park
Etosha National Park is Namibia's premier wildlife destination, centered around the vast Etosha Pan — a 4,800 km² salt flat visible from space that gives the park its name ("Great White Place" in the Ovambo language). During the dry season, the pan's springs and waterholes become the only water sources for hundreds of kilometers, drawing extraordinary concentrations of wildlife including one of Africa's largest populations of black rhinoceros. Etosha's floodlit waterholes at each rest camp provide some of the finest night-time wildlife viewing in Africa, with elephants, rhinos, and lions visiting regularly.
