About Caprivi Strip (Zambezi Region)
The Caprivi Strip (officially the Zambezi Region) is Namibia's unexpected green paradise — a narrow panhandle of lush riverine forests, papyrus-fringed floodplains, and permanent waterways that could not be more different from the rest of desert Namibia. Bordered by four countries (Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Angola), this region encompasses several national parks including Bwabwata, Mudumu, and Nkasa Rupara (formerly Mamili). The area is a vital wildlife corridor connecting Chobe, Okavango, and the Zambezi ecosystems, supporting large populations of elephants, buffalo, hippos, and an exceptional diversity of birdlife. Tiger fishing on the Zambezi tributaries adds an adventure element unique to this region.
