About Quirimbas Archipelago
The Quirimbas Archipelago is one of the Indian Ocean's last truly wild island chains — 32 coral islands stretching along northern Mozambique's coast, surrounded by pristine coral reefs and rich marine biodiversity. Unlike the more developed Bazaruto, Quirimbas retains an untouched, frontier feel with fewer visitors and a richer cultural heritage from centuries of Swahili, Arab, and Portuguese influence. The marine park protects humpback whales, dolphins, sea turtles, and some of the healthiest coral reefs in the western Indian Ocean. The historic stone town of Ibo Island, with its crumbling forts and silversmith tradition, adds a unique cultural dimension.
