About Niassa Special Reserve
Niassa Special Reserve is one of Africa's largest and most remote protected areas — a vast 42,000 km² wilderness in northern Mozambique that receives fewer visitors in a year than the Serengeti sees in a day. This frontier wilderness supports one of Africa's largest wild dog populations, significant elephant herds, and large populations of sable antelope, lion, and leopard. The landscape of inselbergs (isolated granite hills), miombo woodland, and winding rivers creates a raw, untouched African wilderness that has barely changed in centuries. Niassa is for the true safari connoisseur seeking the last wild places on Earth.
