About Inhambane Coast
The Inhambane Coast is Mozambique's most developed tourist stretch — a palm-fringed coastline of pristine beaches, traditional dhow harbors, and colonial Portuguese architecture centered on the charming 500-year-old town of Inhambane ("The Land of Good People"). The coast stretches from Barra Beach in the south to Vilankulo in the north, encompassing some of the finest beaches in the Indian Ocean. Inhambane's unique cultural blend of African, Arabic, and Portuguese influences creates a distinctive atmosphere found nowhere else on the continent. The nearby marine environments offer excellent diving, snorkeling, and the famous whale shark and manta ray encounters of Tofo.
