About Masai Mara National Reserve
The Masai Mara is Kenya's crown jewel and arguably the most famous wildlife reserve on the planet. This 1,510 km² expanse of rolling grasslands and acacia-dotted savanna is home to Africa's densest concentration of predators — more lions per square kilometer than anywhere else on Earth. From July to October, the reserve hosts the dramatic finale of the Great Wildebeest Migration, when over 1.5 million wildebeest and 400,000 zebra surge across the crocodile-infested Mara River in one of nature's most heart-stopping spectacles. The Mara's open terrain makes it one of the finest places in Africa for game viewing and wildlife photography.
