About Moremi Game Reserve
Moremi Game Reserve is the crown jewel of the Okavango Delta — Africa's first community-declared wildlife reserve and widely considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Covering the eastern portion of the Okavango, Moremi encompasses a stunning mosaic of habitats: permanent delta waterways, seasonal floodplains, lagoons, acacia woodland, and mopane forest. This diversity supports an extraordinary range of wildlife including all of the Big Five and one of Africa's healthiest populations of endangered African wild dogs. The reserve was declared in 1963 by the BaTawana people, making it a pioneering example of community-led conservation.
